Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea In A Child

Hi my daughter is almost 3 months, and im feeding her isomil 1, she has diarrhea, which has been going on for seven days, with a little bit of blood on it sometimes and she vomits a lot immediately after feeding, so is it this formula, should i change it, or is it normal for such to happen sometimes. I went to the doctor and he gave me some meds for her but nothing has changed. What should i really do.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
Thanks for putting up your query here.
In babies, high frequency of stools is normal.Stools are generally soft and loose. But as you said, you feed her with ismoil, she has blood in stools plus vomiting after every feed. This shows the baby has got the infection or allergy to the commercial product you are using.Child should be exclusively breastfed (given only breastmilk till 6 months, not even water or other food)till 6 months. An exclusively breast fed child with normal healthy birth weight have very less chances of developing diarrhea.
Therefore,I recommend,
-stop giving any commercial formula to the child.
-breast feed the child on demand. This is important not only to prevent diarrhea but also to treat it.
-As the child has blood in stools, you need to visit paediatrician. If necessary, antibiotics may be given.
Hope this information helps.
Thanks and regards.
