Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea In An Infant

Hi, my 4 month old baby went from pooping 10 times per day to only pooping once ever 7 to 14 days with the help of lactolose after 8 weeks. He is generally well, he does not seem to be in pain but when he does open his bowel a lot of poo comes out. Is this normal, will he grow out of it once he starts solids?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to stomach infection.

For that, he may require syp metronidazole after pediatrician consultation.

Continue breastfeeding. Avoid outside food.

He may require zinc syrup after consultation.

Watch for symptoms of dehydration like dry skin, decreased urination

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Shyam Kale, Family and general physician
