Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea, Nausea And Rapid Heart Rate
I m 44 year old women. I m diabetic. I m taking medicine plus insulin. Right now it s the month of Ramadan and I m fasting. I currently have loose motion and I m alittle nausea and feel weak at the moment. Also,my heart rate is fast and I have no energy. I checked my blood sugar level and its 5.3. I checked my blood pressure and its 112.83. I just wanted to know if I m dehydrated and wants going on. I have been fasting for about 10 days now, I was fine until now.
Based on the history you have shared, if you are suspecting your getting dehydrated during fasts and due to losing motion, it's better to skip for one or two days and get, intravenous hydration done with normal saline infusion.
Also using oral rehydration salts and probiotics may be helpful. Meanwhile, if intake is poor decrease the insulin unitsgo half with stric sugars monitoring.
Also, the oral meds for diabetes if included Metformin may be skipped for 2-3 days until lose motions settle as it can cause further gastric upset.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
