Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea While Tapering Off Benzodiazepine
I just had diarrhea, normal color w/ no cramping and absolutely no smell. Is this normal? I don t feel weak and the stools were watery but normal brown. Could this be part of my benzodiazepine taper? I was on benzos for 20+ years and have slowly been tapering since the beginning of last June (from 1mg/day).
I do not think that your symptoms of diarrhea are related to benzodiazepine. Withdrawal from benzodiazepines does not have symptoms of diarrhea and as in your case, the withdrawal is gradual, the chances are all the more less, almost to the level of nil.
The etiology of your symptom may be other than this, particularly infective etiology like bacterial, parasitic, viral or mixed infections. Therefore, you should be investigated for this and treatment should be done accordingly under guidance pf your doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
