Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea

I have had diarrhea for 5 days. 1st day was smelly, with severe cramps. Nonstop thought I was gonna pass out. Now it seems that anything I eat or drink causes a bowel movement....and the stool comes out like water. Green and odorless. I am a diabetic as well. Any idea what this is and what caused it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Acute diarrhea is most commonly due to infection of the gastrointestinal tract by a virus or bacteria.

Since the symptoms are severe, you may want to consider visiting your doctor for an assessment which would include sending a stool sample to the lab and possible blood test.

In general , treatment involves the following: (1)hold off solid food for now
(2)need to treat or prevent dehydration by the use of fluids. Use oral rehydration fluids or gatorade
(3)probiotics would also help . They can be used on their own or in some yogurts
(4)there are agents that would slow down the diarrhea that you can obtain from your local pharmacy.

I hope this helps
