Suggest Treatment For Difficulty In Breathing And Swallowing For An 89-year-old

My father was diagnosed 2 1/2 weeks ago with a cancerous growth on his thyroid. He is having difficulty catching his breath and is now having difficulty swallowing and has lost 15 lbs in the past two months as a result of not being able to eat much. How urgent is the need for treatment (the doctors now want to send him to Charlotte for a more detailed scan of the area) and what do you think are his chances for survival? He is 89 years young. The process from diagnosis to now has been slow and I am concerned because of his weight loss and labored breathing. Thank you

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, if this is the suspected case of malignancy or it is already diagnosed for it then it needs to be treated at earliest, as long as the question of survival is concern it is all depends upon the clinical condition of patient and pathology report without knowing this difficult to say anything but patients will power plays the great role hope this information helps.
