Suggest Treatment For Difficulty In Extending The Leg
I just dropped a 50lb. Block on my left knee and I m getting a nice sized goose egg about a golf ball in diameter less than 3cm thick. I ve put ice on it and took an aspirin(325mg) and an ibuprofen(200mg) but it is difficult to full extend my leg. I can walk but it is uncomfortable. Any suggestions?
Hello, Thanks for posting in HCM. Most important is rest. Put a pillow under you knee so as to relieve the tendons and muscles of the joints to get rest. Continue applying ice 2-3 times a day. Until the swelling is there do not apply any hot fomentation to that area or it will increase the swelling. Hot water bath also to be avoided. Apply some crepe bandage in comfortable position so as to compress the swelling to help reduce it faster, do not apply too tight. It will be difficult to fully extend the leg as the swelling has occurred over the joint so it will take another 1 week to reduce the swelling. The medications you are taking will be enough to take care of pain and anti-inflammatory part for the injury. With this I hope you have a speedy recovery and get well soon. I hope I answered your question satisfactorily. If you have any more query kindly write back to me, will be happy to help you out. Thank you.
