Suggest Treatment For Difficulty In Staying Asleep
Good morning, Doc! I have a couple of questions concerning my sleep patterns and inability to actually stay asleep. I generally go to bed EVERY night between 10:30-12 but never fall to any sort of sleep or start to tire out/ wind down so I can try to sleep for 1-3 hours after I get into bed and lay down. I can t seem to Stop my brain. I have tried everything I can think of right down to sleep sound effect apps. I am ALWAYS extremely tired no matter what time I wake up. I am up & down all thru the night. Every 2-3 hours, when I do actually hit that sleep state (which is extremely rare), I could probably sleep through a hurricane or tornado (literally not figuratively) My sleep patterns get better then go right back to up/down all night. I don t take sleep aids because of other medications I am on. Both of them do cause drowsiness but not for me. However, I also have periods (1-4 days) whereas I can sleep ALL day & night. I have been told that I do snore & I talk in my sleep, clear enough to where people think I m awake on the phone. What s your take?
Your history is suggestive of sleep disorder where you experience insomnia and hyper-somnolence alternatively.
I suggest you to consult a pulmonologist for sleep study. The behavior during sleep can be monitored by sleep study and definitive diagnosis for the sleep disorder can be done. This will help to select the best treatment for your sleep problem.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
