Hi dear,
I can understand your concern regarding your friend'ongoing problem .According to history and symptoms of your friend,I suspects an acute nerve problem causing urinary retention. So ,a CT scan or MRI of the spine can be done for further evaluation. If he have a spastic bladder, he may be able to "trigger" the bladder to contract .To do this, he can try tapping on the bladder area, stroking his thigh, or doing push-ups in your wheelchair. Or you can use Valsalva maneuvers, If you have a spastic bladder, you may be able to "trigger" the bladder to contract and avoid having to use a catheter. To do this, he can try tapping on the bladder area, stroking his thigh, or doing push-ups Or he can use Valsalva maneuvers, which are efforts to breathe out without letting air escape through the nose or mouth. please rate my answer,if you found it helpful in any way .
