Suggest Treatment For Discoloration On The Back Of The Leg

What condition(s) cause the splotched discoloration on the back of my legs above the ankle and under the calve muscle in women ? When I hike extensively ...the discoloration starts as small areas and seems to spread or disperse even when I elevate after exertion(?) Is this symptomatic or of possible concern in short or long term health considerations with circulation. Etc ??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

I had very less clinical information from your question. Still, I guess you are suffering from varicose veins and lipodermatosclerosis which is discoloration of the skin due to it.

Varicose veins are common conditions and since you are having these discolorations from 30 years so it doesn't affect your daily activities much, however, clinical examination is must in your case show to a general surgeon or dermatologist if possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
