Suggest Treatment For Discolored Goose Egg On Ankle
I have a large discolored goose egg on the bone of my ankle after dropping a weighted bar on it. I am very boney, with no layer of fat under the skin, so the bar probably landed on a vein. What s the best way to treat this? i can walk on my foot so I don t think I broke anything.
Hi and welcome to HCM Since you have injured the area, the swelling is due to trauma to the tissue below the skin. There would be some blood clot and fluid collection due to the injury. If some time has passed after the injury then keep a check on whether the swelling is spreading or the discoloration is noticeably increasing in size. Else do not worry, the colour will gradually change to bluish black and then fade over the next few days as the blood clot breaks down and fluid goes away. Do not strain the injury or put pressure on it. keep your foot elevated if necessary or swelling of foot is present. You can use thrombophob ointment over the swelling for the clot. If you notice any abnormal swelling, or dislocation of your bones, severe pain, do consult an orthopedician to rule out internal injury. Hope this helps.
