Hello,
Many times backache or pain in the buttocks may occur because of overextending or straining the muscles in the lower back.
Other factors can be
Sciatica,
degenerative arthritis of the spine,
herniated disc,
spinal stenosis, etc.
You are suggested to visit ER, get physically examined. Get X-Ray, CT, MRI, EMG done to assess the factor causing you discomfort.
Your treatment will depend upon the severity of the discomfort detected.
Your treating doctor will treat you with muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatory, narcotics, steroid injections,
physical therapy or surgery if needed, etc.
In the meantime you may relieve from the symptoms by ding stretch exercises, taking hot/cold packs. For pain, you can take Naproxen, one sos when needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
