Suggest Treatment For Discomfort In The Upper Left Hip

I am having mild to moderate discomfort in my upper left hip/flank that started over a week ago. In the last 2-3 days, I have noticed that the discomfort can be aggravated by tight clothes, sitting with my knees too close to my chest, and sometimes with movement such as walking up and down stairs, when getting out of my car, stretching or twisting. Also, I have pelvic fullness (for lack of better description), increased frequency of bowel movements with smaller amount of stools (no diarrhea or hard stool noted), and increased urgency to urinate. The fullness and discomfort both increase when I need to urinate or feel like I need to stool. It improves, but not does not go away, after both. Also, over the last 2-3 days, the discomfort has started to radiate forward towards the left groin/ovary, where I have felt mittleschmertz.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Consult an orthopaedic and get an MRI scan to rule out any muscular or tendon involvement.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
