Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Good evening! I am having issues with my back. About 2/3 months ago, I popped a rib out of place by my right shoulder blade. I seen a chiropractor and it got better after about 5/6 visits. Well it seems that it happened again. Is there something I can do besides the chiropractor to help it? Why does it keep happening?
It can be muscular or soft tissuedeformity. Usually, ribs without any trauma or external stimulus doesn't pop out like that. You can confirm on X-ray or CT/MRI, if X-ray is unremarkable. You need to get it examined by an orthopedic surgeon.
Meanwhile, local heat application, physiotherapy and analgesics like Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be helpful for symptomatic relief. Muscle relaxants may also be needed later, if it persists.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
