Suggest Treatment For Disturbed Sleep Pattern

Hello Doctor,
My age is 33(male) and Married. I work from my home. Recently from past couple of weeks i am experiencing lack of sleep. I am unable to get full 7 or 8 hours of continuous sleep. Earlier i used to snore (when i experiencing good sleep) Now my wife tells me i hardly snore. and I am aware of this because i dont get deep sleep anymore. I get racing thoughts in my mind
In the last 2 weeks i am sleeping for just 2 or 3 hours in the night. (I dont sleep during daytime to compensate).
Now i am writing this also in the middle of the night. Just woke up with 2 hours of sleep.
I am really getting worried and anxious about my sleep. My body and joints feel so stiff and also i dont feel fresh during the day.
Kindly help me . Also to mention that for the same problem i took Stilnoct 6 mg tablets for 2 weeks (4 months before)

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

You are 33 years and have problems of sleep. You had problems of snoring but now its not there. Currently you have symptoms like failing to get deep sleep, thoughts in mind, non refreshing sleep and multiple awakening in night. These problems are causing lack of energy in day time, aches in body, anxiety etc symptoms. Stilnoct or Zolpidem was taken for 2 weeks.

For these problems I would advise you to consult a psychiatrist. The problem of poor sleep is probably due to severe anxiety about not getting good sleep and this has resulted in depressive symptoms. I would advise you to improve your sleep hygiene and don't think about not getting sleep again and again. Medicines like Trazodon, Mirtazapine, Doxepine etc are antidepressants and help in achieving good sleep. These medicines don't cause dependence and also don't affect sleep architecture. You can consult a psychiatrist for proper management.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
