Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been told that I have diverticulosis. In the past - and current I have been plagued by periods of GI troubles, including those rotten smelling burps. Like eggs if you will. Once the burping starts, shortly after the runs begins (rather profusely) and vomiting. It is like recurring gastro enteritis. I have been tested for parasite and C Diff but all negative. Why does this happen, and can it be remedied?
Hi, Diverticuloum is a abnormal outward projection of mucosa of colon. When it is get infected,it is known as diverticulitis. You might have repeated infection of this leading to diarrhea, vomiting, flatulence etc. You can take antibiotics ( quinolones or cephalosporins) with antiprotozoals like metronidazole, antiemetics, antispasmodics, probiotics and other supportive treatment with dietary restrictions to low fat and high protein but the main cure is thevonly surgical removal of diverticulam because of repeated gut infection or they could be also chances of complications like peritonie, bowel obstruction etc. So,better you see gastrosurgeon and take advise.
