Suggest Treatment For Dizziness And Nausea After Nose Injury

Hi... today I was at the vet and as I was taking my dog out of his bag one of the workers accidentally backhanded me in my nose. In the past I had 2 rhinoplasty surgeries both opened & closed. The 1st time they broke my nose. I saw stars when I got hit & have been feeling dizziness and nausea since. Is my nose extra sensetive due to the previous sinus surgeries? I m just looking for any advice possible. Thanks, Paula

Hello,

After nose injury if you are experiencing nausea and dizziness and have a history of two rhinoplasty done then you are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT. Get X-ray, CT or MRI done to detect the pathology causing nausea and dizziness. It can be due to blunt trauma, fracture, bruising causing blocked nasal passages, swelling, internal injury, etc.

You can cold compress for relieve or take acetaminophen or Ibuprofen, one SOS for relief. Your treating ENT, may do nose packing with gauze if need be. You will be treated with antibiotics, analgesics or surgery (rhinoplasty, perform a septorhinoplasty, which is a surgery to repair your nasal septum) if needed.

Post-concussive dizziness can persist for weeks or months after the trauma, and even become a chronic problem. Treatment includes physical therapy, cognitive therapy, exercise-based vestibular rehabilitation, gradual increase in activity, anti-vertigo & anti emetic medications. Avoid addictions if any, stress and anxiety, certain head movement & excessive lighting, etc.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
