hi and thank you, pleased to answer you
Dizziness a mostly older adult’s symptom but can affect people of any age. “It doesn’t always mean there’s something wrong.” However, if the dizziness is accompanied by abnormal other symptoms such as vomiting visions complaints, or legs complaints, consultation at the emergency room is needed immediately. Vertigo Usually perceived as rotary—a spinning movements or wheeling sensation—but some patients simply feel pulled to one side and may accompagne Dizziness. Dizziness described as faintness (a feeling of impending syncope) or light-headedness or feeling of imbalance or unsteadiness
The
vestibular system is the main neurologic system involved in balance. This system includes the vestibular apparatus of the inner ear, the 8th (vestibulocochlear)
cranial nerve, which conducts signals from the vestibular apparatus to the central components of the system and lastly the vestibular nuclei in the brain stem and
cerebellum. peripheral disorders mean inner ear and 8th cranial nerve disorders. Vestibular nuclei and their pathways in the brain stem and cerebellum are considered central disorders. The sense of balance also incorporates visual input from the eyes and proprioceptive input from the peripheral nerves. The
cerebral cortex receives output from the lower centers and integrates the information to produce the perception of motion.
The most common causes of dizziness involving peripheral vestibular system are, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and Meniere disease.
The most common causes are usually not otologic and probably are drug effects or multifactorial (
hypotension, hypoxemia, anemia, or
hypoglycemia, tumoral…etc.) or idiopathic (without any causes).
I would ask you to
consult a neurologist.
I would talk about some of my diabetic patients who used a long time METFORMIN a blood glucose lowering treatment known by its deleterious action on stomach . after 4 or 5 years using it, they suffered from a gastritis and dizziness with vertigo. the change of metformin alone hasen't relieve dizziness and vertigo, but when treating gastritis the patient relieved from those complaints, I think that gastritis can lead to Dizziness and when patient do not find any causes it my be interesting to do a fibrscopic stomach exploration.
may this help you and best wishes
