Hello,
Your mother in law is suffering from dizziness,
severe headache and unsteady gait. She has the dizzy issue since 10yrs after she fell in the bathroom. Dizziness associated with severe headache & unsteady gait is commonly caused due to inner ear problem, vertigo,
peripheral neuropathy, spinal cord issues, weakness, arthritis, MS,
spinal cord compression, etc. You are suggested to get her clinically examined by an ENT, get audiometry test, hearing tests, vision tests including eye movement to detect vertigo.
The ENT may refer her to a
Neurologist, get CT/MRI, Nerve conduction velocity test and electromyogram done. Electromyogram helps to evaluate for muscle problems and peripheral neuropathy. She will be treated accordingly. In the meantime, you can get her connected to a Physical therapist so that the exercises and
massage therapy can continue, it is effective. To reduce headache she can take acetaminophen, one SOS when needed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General & Family Physician
