Hello,

After you had surgeries, you are on a walker. Presently you are suffering from foot drop and constant tingling in your foot. You are suggested to get a follow up clinical examination done by your surgeon to detect any post surgical complications. You will be treated accordingly. Foot drop commonly occurs due to compression or injury to the nerve (peroneal nerve) that helps the muscles involved in lifting the foot. Tingling sensation may be indicative of nerve injury / trauma. Foot drop may take 6 weeks to recover but sometimes may take a longer period to recover.

Foot drop is commonly treated with nerve stimulation, medicines and physical therapy. You may need ankle brace or splints, shoe inserts( orthotics) to help you lift your foot. Your surgeon should refer you to a neurologist / GP for nerve conduction velocity tests and further treatment. The treating doctor may recommend surgery depending upon the pathology detected. Get treated at the earliest. In the meantime, take food good for the nerves like vitamin B6, B12 rich food or supplements. Take adequate rest. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
