Hello,
As per my clinical experience, the dry vagina with itching and white discharge do indicate bacterial or
fungal infection of the female external genitalia. My guidelines for better recovery:
- Drink plenty of liquids and home made juices
- Take extra care of vaginal hygiene
- Avoid sexual intercourse at present till recovery
- Avoid prolong use of same tampons
- Avoid use of commercial bleach or wax for cleansing vaginal hair
- Cranberry sachet or pills
- Get a culture swab report of the
vaginal discharge for microbiological diagnosis
- Empiric prescription of antibiotics as Clindamycin,
Azithromycin or else with
Metronidazole probiotics as lacto bacillus to support
vaginal flora and pH maintenance
- Antihistamine for itching
- Prophylactic anti-fungal as Fluconazole (200 mg) once at night for 2 days
- Consume balanced nutritious diet to combat the immunity
- Avoid smoking and alcohol if consuming
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
