Suggest Treatment For Dry Cough While Having Interstitial Lung Disease
My mother of age 63 suffering from Interstitial lungs disease. She has infection in the upper part of both lungs. The infected area is approximately 10 percent in each lung with respect to total area of each lungs. What are the medicines and treatment available for her. She has the problem of dry cough also.
* The dry cough can be part of bacterial or viral infection, low immunity status hampering body immune response to fight the infection, altered lung capacity and other ratios of FEV1 to FVC and others.
Multimodality approach for this type of cough as
- inhaled or systemic bronchi dilator
- inhaled or systemic steroids
- intravenous antibiotics
- cough formulations and expectorant
- deep breathing exercises with intensive spirometry
- chest physiotherapy
- general measures of nursing care as a semi-reclining position and dietary care.
