Suggest Treatment For Dust Allergies, Discomfort In The Nostrils And Chest Congestion

I am 64 and have realised of late that I suffer from dust allergies. The smell of dust bothers me...there is great discomfort in my nostrils and this sometimes affects my throat and I also suffer from chest congestion causing breathlessness...what is the long term solution for this?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have dust allergies, discomfort in the nostrils and chest congestion . The symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like chest infection , deviated nasal septum or sinusitis , but in your case the symptoms are probably due to may reasons like you have a suspected dust allergy the best way to get treated for it to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and also advise you investigations for allergic testing to confirm the cause.

A complete blood picture has to be done along with FNAC of lymph nodes to rule out for infections. A complete treatment plan can be then established. For allergies you will have to take anti-allergics like Benadryl or levocetrzine. An immunotherapy will be given to reduce the severity of allergic symptoms. Stay inside home , avoid dust particles and stay in humid environment .
