Suggest Treatment For Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding

I have a condition called dysfunctional uterine bleeding. I have been dealing with it for five years now. I have recently been doing to the doctor to try and correct the problem, again. My doctor put me on Migrogestin Fe birth control. Starting taking it and I was bleeding worse than I was prior to. Heavy bleeding with a lot of blood clotting. Called my doctor, she prescribed me Norethindrone to stop the bleeding. Took it for about 2-3 days and the bleeding stopped. Once I started on the Sugar pill in my birth control pack, the bleeding started again. Heavy bleeding, going through 3-5 sanitary pads a day. I only took the sugar pills for 5 days instead of 7 because the bleeding was so bad. Im on a new birth control back now, so Im taking the estrogen filled pills, with the norethindrone, and Im still bleeding heavily. I have already called my doctor about this. I don t understand why the norethindrone was working and now its not and Im miserable...

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to Health care magic.
I understand your concern.
Dysfunctional uterine bleeding is mostly hormonal imbalance causing excessive growth of inner lining of uterus... leading to excessive bleeding.
- Management is by combined oral pills.. when progesterone only pills are not effective. Some times high dose hormones are needed.Addition of like Meftal spas/ CVP gynae help.
- treatment of anemia helps control of bleeding.
- If there is no result with these D& C with EB ( this diagnoses exact cause ) to curate out excess bleeding , followed by cyclical courses of combined contraceptive to correct hormonal imbalance
- Ablation of endometrium or hysterectomy is needed in some non responding patients.
* follow the advise given by a gynecologist after examining you
Thanks
