Suggest Treatment For Ear Pain And Headaches

I have ear pain and half head headaches, and sensitivity to any loud sound or cell phone calls right, this is due to my one year part time job in interpretation, I hear very high voices, and receive nasty calls. I have ear pain all the time, I saw a neurologist but she said I have a tension headache or dizziness due to posture, and I should stretch I should see an ENT. I feel the flush inside my ear is very tender, and I feel the inside walls of my ears hurt too as if there is a cone going inside my ear.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.

Your symptoms do sound like a neurological issue. I would like to consider migraine if the pain and sensitivity is episodic or paralysis of the stapedius muscle in the ear due to facial nerve pathology.

If it is the former, appropriate medications will control it.

If the latter is the case I would also consider herpes infection of the facial nerve. Antiviral therapy for appropriate duration can help cure it or atleast reduce it enough so that it does not affect the day to day activities.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr Geeta
