Suggest Treatment For Ear Pain, Conjunctivitis And Sore Throat

Extreme sore throat . Even my ears hurt. Went to urgent care. Had strep quick swab test. Came back negative. Gave me prednisone 20 mg. One daily. I took one so far, this is 1st day. Also was diagnosed with conjunctivitis. Sore throat is still very very painful. What to do for relief? Cannot sleep, am in a lot of pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Taking some paracetamol and ibuprofen every 6 hours might help with the sore throat. Some patients feel better also with cold things like ice cream which reduce the swelling and the pain. Taking some honey and lemon tea (not hot so you don't burn the throat mucosa even more) can be tried or lozenges. If you notice no improvement in 3-4 days or you notice any worsening you will need to talk to your doctor again.

I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,

Antoneta Zotaj
