Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My child has an ear ache in both ears. She is five and had a cold all last week. However, on Saturday she was better, so she went swimming. Yesterday she complained of sharp ear pain in one ear. Now she has pain in both ears. She has a moderate fever. The thing that is different is she has a slight drainage that is pink. That is freaking my wife out. I assume it is normal colored drainage from an ear infection? Since our kids have never had an ear infection before we don t know. I thought the drainage would be yellow.
Over-the-counter painkillers can help the child feel more comfortable. In more severe cases, antibiotics might be needed. Place a warm or cold flannel on the ear. Ear drops may also be recommended by your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
