Hello,
The symptoms you have mentioned indicate you have trouble in hearing and probably pain in the ear. Most probable conditions are the following:
1) Acute
otitis media or inflammation and infection of middle ear
2)
Chronic otitis media with effusion
3) Eustachian tube dysfunction
In the above conditions there is inflammation of middle ear and eustachian tube following an acute upper
respiratory tract infection. These are to be treated to prevent permanent hearing defect. Normal pressure in the middle ear is negative so you don't need to worry about the pressure. You need a thorough examination by a
ENT specialist and treatment as soon as possible.
The treatment options are the following:
1) NSAIDs like Ibuprofen to reduce pain and inflammation
2) Antibiotics mostly Amoxicillin to treat the infection
3) Sometimes minor surgery may have to be done as decided by the specialist
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
