Suggest Treatment For Earache And Impaired Hearing

Hi. My boyfriend got smacked on the ear pretty hard. About an hour or so later he was complaining that it hurt, and he couldn t hear very well out of the ear. It s been about 3-4 hours since then and he can t hear well from the ear, is still complaining that his ear hurts slightly, and that he feels like he is going to puke (which could possibly be completely unrelated and due to the high heat tempetatures today)There was no visible bleeding, nor severe pain.

Hi, there can be two main reasons for hearing loss post trauma ear while pain can be because of the traumatic effect of injury. Either there can be an injury or perforation of the ear drum on that side and this can result in hearing loss. Addition to that, the force can get transmitted to the middle and inner ear and this can be a reason for vomiting like feeling. The other reason can be the pushing in of a pre-existing debris or wax lying in the ear canal towards the ear drum which will decrease the hearing because of blockade. An impacted wax can also be a reason for nausea. Please see an ENT and get the ear examined to know the real reason for the problem. Meanwhile, keep the ear dry and don't put any ear drops. Take an analgesic for pain if it doesn't subside on its own. Regards
