Suggest Treatment For Eczema And Irritated Rashes

My mother is 88 years old. She has had a rash, which she did not inform me of until it became extremely uncomfortable, left scabs from scratching, progressing into welts in places, very irritating, scratching herself terribly, both night, and day. At first the doctor treated it as if it was eczema. Prescribing Hydrocortisone cream. That was not effective. The second TX was steroids and Hydroxyzine. Still ineffective. Please advise.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
I feel your mother is suffering from an eczematous rash with possible secondary bacterial and fungal infections. so she may need local application of a combined cream of steroid, antifungal and antibiotics. she may need oral antihistamine such as chlorphenaramine to prevent itcing . may need oral antibiotics too. so it is better to show her to a dermatologist.
