General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Eczema in 17 months old baby could be due to allergy, exposure to irritants or can be seen in families. I advise you to:
- Apply moisturising cream (cetaphil), twice daily immediately after giving bath to the baby or before the skin dried up completely
- Also, use topical steroid creams (fluticasone)
- Note: apply steroid first and then the moisturiser
- Do not apply strong irritating ointments
- Avoid contact of skin with swollen clothes
- Allergy if any, add antihistamines

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya Vasudevan, General & Family Physician
