The dermatologist says my wife has excema on her fingers and has prescribed clobetasosol and prednisone. It started with thumbs but has now involved 3 fingers and getting worse in past month. It gets to third layer of skin and then cracks again. What other ideas to help please? She is 61 and never had this issue in past
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of eczema on fingers which seem to be due to cosmetics products, certain viruses and bacteria, weather, food like nuts and seafood. In your case, the probable reasons are seasonal allergy and nutritional deficiencies.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you keep yourself away from the open environment, use air condition, and start taking an antihistamine like Benadryl. You should apply cold compresses to the affected area and apply moisturizer. If the condition doesn't get improve or get worse then consult allergy specialist for proper examination. The doctor will ask a history of your health and try to find out the trigger factor. The doctor may order an allergy test.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
