Suggest Treatment For Elbow Pain After Lifting A Heavy Object
Hello, Since lifting and carrying a heavy piece of granite I have had severe pain in my left elbow. When I transferred the load from my right arm to the left arm there was a popping type noise and considerable pain instantly in the elbow. That was about 5 weeks ago, since then the full time pain has subsided but any movement or weight bearing activities hurt like a 7-8 on the pain scale. Does the elbow have tendon and cartridge similar to the knee?
Hi ,welcome to Ask A Doctor' service. I have read your question and here is my advice. Yes , not very similar, but elbow joints do have tendons and cartilage .Most of times such injuries are because of the strains in the muscle or the strains , however if the pain is still there after few weeks and is is that severe , i would advise you should go to the doctor and discuss with him to rule out any serious injury to the joint or bones. Till that you should give rest to the joint , avoid heavy lifting with the effected hand .
Hopes i have answered your question .Please don,t hesitate to ask anything else you want to know about it. Kind Regards Dr Rahman.
