Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have pain in my elbow when I lean on it or lean against something. X-Rays were negative so I think it may be something like a pinched nerve. I does not hurt what I swing a golf club or exercise - only when I hit the upper side of my elbow in just the right way. Compression selves even make it hurt.Any thoughts? treatment suggestions?
Your symptoms might be due to any one of the following: 1) Tennis elbow 2) Olecranon bursitis 3) Injury to the elbow
X-ray would be normal as bone is not broken. The following are treatment options: 1) Analgesics with anti inflammatory action like tab Ibuprofen, tab Aceclofenac for a week only if you don't have any kidney disease 2) Topical sprays would help relieve pain 3) Hot water bag compression on the affected elbow would give some pain relief 4) Once the pain is reduced, you can go for physiotherapy to the affected elbow
If all the above measures don't show result, you may need to undergo MRI of the affected joint for a specific diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
