Hello,
SGOT is a liver enzyme which can be raised in any type of
liver damage. It is nonspecific, its elevation alone doesn't provide much information regarding the cause and management.
Many more tests are needed to at least attempt to identify a cause. Tests like SGPT, GGT, ALP, direct and indirect
bilirubin levels, INR,
albumin levels, are necessary to know (I am sure they've been done but you provide no results, nor the value of the SGOT, the symptoms, and their evolution in time).
Blood tests for B and C
hepatitis are also essential tests to look for a viral infection as the cause. Liver
ultrasound may be done as well.
These are only initial tests, if cause still unclear further testing may be required.
Suggestions for management can only be made when there is an idea regarding the cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
