dear sir my GGT level 137 ..but i didnt use any alcohal ..but please tell me how can i decrease my GGT level . i mean what i use to get the normal value of GGT and i attach my report image ..please give me any suggestion or advice .i am waiting your reply my age is 26 . LFT TEST
Though the most common cause for an increase in GGT is alcohol, there can be other causes as well.
Other causes include: (1)hepatitis- liver inflammation possibly due to infection (2)mass in the liver (3)a condition called primary sclerosing cholangitis (4)pancreatitis (5)lupus (6)breast or lung cancer (7)smoking (8)side effect of some medications
An ultrasound of the abdomen may be done to check for any changes and additional bloods may be needed (depending on what bloods were done previously and result of physical examination).
Intervention would depend on the cause found
