General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Though the most common cause for an increase in GGT is alcohol, there can be other causes as well.

Other causes include: (1)hepatitis- liver inflammation possibly due to infection
(2)mass in the liver
(3)a condition called primary sclerosing cholangitis
(4)pancreatitis
(5)lupus
(6)breast or lung cancer
(7)smoking
(8)side effect of some medications

An ultrasound of the abdomen may be done to check for any changes and additional bloods may be needed (depending on what bloods were done previously and result of physical examination).

Intervention would depend on the cause found

I hope this helps
