Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a vein blow out about a month ago. I went to the ER and they did an ultra-sound and determined that it was not deep vein but surface vein. I also developed an infection that turned bright red on the upper and lower inner thigh. I m not stranger to large vericose veins. I have had them all of my adult life. This is much more intense. I have an appointment with a vein specialist this Friday. The vein is still enlarged and painful. I am wearing compression stockings and it helps but there are still areas of swelling and something like a pod of hard swelling between the vein and the muscle.
I think at this point cannot do much at home. You are already wearing compression socks and taking medicines for infection. You should not move or stand for long time. Raise your legs when sleeping. Take Magnesium supplement. Take medicines exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
