Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Gland In The Neck

I was exposed to strep throat about a week ago. I am now having symptoms with the enlarged glands, red blotchy throat and feeling bad. I have some Doxycycline Hylate 100mg. from a previous infection would if be safe to begin those until I could see a doctor? I would have to go to a UC and I do not want to do that.

thanks for posting your query to hcm . throat infection may be caused by bacteria or virus . we need to do culture and sensitivity examination of throat swab to find out its cause . empirical use of antibiotics without knowing the local resistance pattern is not a good practice , as it increases drug resistance among bacteria . I suggest you to consult a EN surgeon for throat examination and investigation .
