Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Thyroid, Weight Gain And Fatigue

I have felt horrible for 2 yrs. Saw a endocrine Dr over yr ago who thought my thyroid was enlarged but at the time had normal tsh level. Have had a brain MRI this last yr by Neuro and that was clear. My blood work recently had my tsh at 42. My Dr has referred me to another endocrine Dr in a few weeks. I gained 70 lbs in 1 yr and had thought it could have been due to lyrics. I feel so fatigued and horrible every day. Any idea what could be going on to shoot my tsh level that high??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It's seems that your are suffering from severe hypothyroidism, and symptoms seem to be related to the illness. Thyroxine may need to be supplemented from outside, orally and symptoms may start to resolve within months, however for weight loss, diet plan after consulting a dietician may be needed. Ultrasound thyroid gland may be needed to look for any growth or neoplasm and FNAC may needed if any nodule is detected.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
