Hello!
Thank you for asking on HCM!
I would like to explain that your symptoms are related to an autonomic neuropathy causing the
erectile dysfunction. This is a common complication of
diabetes in the advanced stages, like sensory or motor neuropathy.
To get an erection, men need healthy blood vessels, nerves, male hormones, and a desire to be sexually stimulated. Diabetes can damage the blood vessels and nerves that control erection. Therefore, even if you have normal amounts of male hormones and you have the desire to have sex, you still may not be able to achieve a firm erection.
I would recommend you to consult with your GP and perform a routine
blood test, kidney and an ECG to consider starting therapy with Viagra or
Levitra (these drugs are counter-indicated in coronary artery syndrome).
I advise you to monitor your blood glucose and treat properly your diabetes.
Additional treatments in your situation to take into consideration would be : intracavernous injection therapy, vacuum constriction devices, intraurethral therapy, and
sex therapy.
Hope to have been helpful!
Greetings! Dr. Aida
