Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
before my husband and I go seek the help of a doctor, perhaps I can get some direction here. my husband is 46 yrs old in may and though I don t think age has too much to do with it yet, he has diagnosed himself with erectile dysfunction. sometimes his stamina is long lasting and at times he loses erection in the middle of activity. before going to the dr. are there some remedies we can try at home or over the counter?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your husband's problem can be most likely due to anxiety. Other associated health conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes or high cholesterol should be ruled out as these can give rise to erection problem. Penile ultrasound examination should be done to rule out any organic problems. He should get proper exercise daily and have stress relaxation exercises like breathing exercise. He can also take aphrodisiac foods, foods which contain zinc and antioxidants. If all these not helping then you can approach a psychologist for behavioral therapy. If that is not helping then SSRI drugs like dapoxetine or phosphpdiesterase inhibitors like tadalafil prior to intercourse will be helpful. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
