Suggest Treatment For Erectile Dysfunction

Hello, I have been having problems maintaining an erection during sexual activity, and am not sure what the cause is. This has been ongoing for at least 2 years. I am currently taking Adderall and Lexapro, which I took for 6 years, but was off it for a year and I got back on it again a couple of months ago. I am also very anxious in general, including during sexual activity because of past failures to maintain the erection. How can I identify the problem and what can I do to fix it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It looks like you have ED with premature ejaculation. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP and counselor so that behavioural techniques and the pause-squeeze technique can be explained. Medications that effectively help in ED are Sildenafil (Viagra) or Tadalafil (Adcirca, Cialis).

However, to control anxiety, you may need anti anxiety medications. Stay Comfortable with your partner, avoid nervousness and just stay relaxed. Condoms are helpful. Topical anesthetic creams and sprays that have a numbing agent, such as benzocaine or lidocaine are sometimes used to treat premature ejaculation.

It is applied to the penis 10 to 15 minutes before sex to reduce sensation and help delay ejaculation. Apply it after consultation & clinical examination by a GP.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
