age? how was ulcer diagnosed?
biopsy was done or not? biopsy result? is he suffering from GERD or
diabetes OR AIDS? his medications (if any)?
differential for esophageal ulcer is:
GERD
CMV
Herpes
long history of NSAID use
for the time being:
- quit
smoking if a smoker
- stop OTC pain killers
- stop
Aciphex and start
Nexium 40mg once daily before breakfast
- less spicy food and less oily food
- weigh reduction if over weight
visit your treating physician and/or gastroenterologist for a follow up.
