Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My dad is 73 and is always hungry. He is very fit and healthy but his belly is too big. He gets up in the night thinking of food and cannot stop eating. I am worried about his heart, although he doesn´t smoke or drink much. Please can you advise a remedy to stop his hunger pains.
If it is a recent issue, you should check if there are any other changes in his mental state or behavior. Is there any decline in his intellectual faculties including memory, judgment, language? If so, take him to a psychiatrist. If this is a single isolated symptom, in my opinion, you can wait. Till then, ensure that he has adequate healthy food during the day and keep some low calorie snack (fruit, skimmed milk etc) in his room close to his bed at night. I hope this has advise has been helpful.
