Suggest Treatment For Excessive Salivation Causing Slurred Speech
Hello i have been dealing with a problem lately that is very disheartening, embarrassing and has been effecting the quality of my life. my mouth waters constantly. Every 20 seconds it is full to the brim which forces me to swallow promptly. It also slurs my speech and creates an awkward anxiety in a social setting because I'm self conscious about it now and so exhausted from trying to overcome this. If you can help in any way it would be huge for my family and I. I know this sounds crazy but this is a big deal. I want my life back. Maybe you can help me get it. And in the midst of this task you may discover something that could help many others. I look forward to hearing from you.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it excessive salivation also known as Sialorrhea can occur due to a number of causes like Oral and dental infection, acid reflux, TMJ dysfunction, Bruxism, gastritis, new dentures or fixed prosthesis, side effect of medicine, certain disorders like Parkinsonism, Myasthenia Gravis can also cause hypersalivation..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can do a clinical examination as well as investigations as per suspected cause and if required can refer you to appropriate specialist.. As of now you can brush your teeth twice a day and gargle with mouthwash frequently especially before being around people as they have a drying effect in mouth and can be helpful
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
