Suggest Treatment For Excessive Sneezing And Post Nasal Drip

Hi I have been sneezing upon waking in the morning with post nasal drip and runny nose everymorning for over a month now. Previously to this I have had hayfever symptoms which come and go. I have done a blood RAST at the doctors which showed negative for grass weed, mould and pet dander and dust and mite. So am baffled as to what is causing me to sneeze everymorning with a runny nose. I have had a CT scan done on my sinuses which showed I have a cyst in the left nasal area . Any ideas on my condition. Thanks Kumi

Hi,

Since you are a known case of hay fever the sneezing in the morning is surely an allergic phenomenon.
Anything under the sun including the sun can cause allergy and thus it is impossible to test everything for allergy.
More problems in the bed in the morning indicate the allergens are there in the bedroom only; can be in the bed, the clothing and coverings, molds on wall, dust in room dead mites in the carpets and so on.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Debug your bedroom by vacuum suctioning of the whole bed, carpet, curtains.
Go for pure cottons.
Take antihistamine and steroid nasal spray at bedtime to avoid or at least reduce the morning symptoms.
Additional treatment as would be suggested by your ENT Surgeon.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General and ENT Surgeon
