Suggest Treatment For Excessive Weight Gain, Recurrent Pneumonia And Respiratory Failure
Hello I am a lil under 5 tall and I currently weigh 206lbs. I have NEVER had a weight problem until i suffered respiratory failure a few yrs back and I get pneumonia alot and I now have adult asthma. With that being said from being inactive for so long (due to busy on oxygen for 18 monts) and on steriods I have gained 70lbs. I know i need to loose weigh but its a battle. My question is that my back and knees often hurt but my feet ALWAYS hurt if I have been sitting along time, if this mainly from being overweight? What can you suggest to jump start weightloss?
The weight gain probably is die to the reason that you are on steroids for your adult asthma. And the knee and other pains are also due to steroids side effects. You need to consult your doctor so that he could get your bone scan done to look for the signs of osteoporosis and give you medicines like bisphosphonates. Plus consult him for any chances of reducing steroid therapy.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
