Suggest Treatment For Extreme Abdominal Pain Caused By Gastroenteritis
my friend is vomiting clear mucus and in extreme pain. He is complaining that he is hungry but nothing stays down. This has been going on about a month off and on with a couple ER visits. They say Gastroenteritis. Could it be anything else or is this what should be expected?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the findings about your friend who is vomiting clear mucus and is in extreme pain, feels hungry but nothing stays down, for about a month and has been to ER a couple of times. They say gastroparesis, wants to know what could this be and what to expect. One moth of vomiting means there is a problem and needs proper clinical evaluation by a General Surgeon and following investigations: X-ray of the abdomen in standing position. Ultrasonography. Tests of blood, urine and stool. Upper GI Endoscopy. All the will give an idea about the probable cause. You may be given a course of A PPI like Omeprazole, domperidone as motility regulator and further medical treatment as per the reports and clinical findings. Further tests like CT scan of the abdomen may be indicated if required.
