Suggest Treatment For Extreme Weakness On The Legs

Every time I walk my legs feel very weak and it feels such an effort to get anywhere. I have fibromyalgia and was wondering if this could be a symptom? It has been getting worse over the last few months. Could it be something other than the fibromyalgia and should I see a doctor?

Hi,

Fibromyalgia has strong association with muscle weakness, muscle pain, fatigue and restless legs. It mainly affects muscles and tendons of feet, legs and hands. I advise you to:
- Do complete blood count, ESR, RA factor etc to rule out underlying other conditions
- Keep yourself stress free and do physiotherapy
- Take medications like analgesic, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, muscle relaxants, medications to relieve nerve pain as prescribed by your doctor etc.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya Vasudevan, General & Family Physician
