Suggest Treatment For Eye Socket And Blister Like Swelling
Hello I have a dilemma-the top eye socket and lower have blister like swelling, this has continued for three weeks. The area of the swelling is very firm to hard and is now receding down my cheeks. I have seen a medical practitioner, but he informs he has no idea what is causing the problem- I was placed on high doses of steroid s for three days, but this did not make a difference. I do have food and seasonal allergies, diabetes controlled by metformin. Thank you
You seem to have something called periorbital edema. There are many causes for the condition however the most common is allergy. As mentioned by you, you seem to have seasonal allergies. I would advise you to apply cold compress over the area, take an anti inflammatory medication like paracetamol and antihistamines like Pheniramine Maleate or Cetirizine. Please rule out any infection in and around the affected area by a review with your physician, in that case you would require a course of antibiotic also.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
